You came to us early,
Why?
Only God knows.
Ten little fingers,
Ten little toes.
You left us so early,
Why?
Only God knows. Ten little fingers,
Ten little toes.
I wrote this poem one year after my angel grandaughter Kathryn Mary Cook became an angel.
Her going back home to God is one of the hardest things I have ever had to face in my life.
Kathryn was the first child for my daughter, Tanya and son-in-law Mike. She was born one month early and to all outward appearances was perfect. She weighed five pounds six ounces and eighteen inches long.
After being home one day she was taken back to the hospital because of vomiting yellow bile and a temperature of only ninety one degrees.
It was later found out that night that her large intestine was completely dead. If found after she was born she might have lived.
Kathryn now has a brother, Michael, who is three years old. She is so sadly missed by her mommy, daddy, brother, grandparents, great grandmother, aunts, uncles and cousins.
Not a day goes by that my tears don't flow with missing her so much. I have so little memories of her. The two I do have are holding her in my arms for the three days I spent with her and this smile on her beautiful face.
