In Loving Memory of Jackson Dane Snow

November 12, 2003

Sometimes Love is for a Moment
Sometimes Love is for a Lifetime
Sometimes a moment is a Lifetime

In the spring of 2003, we received the joyous news that another grandchild would be joining our family. Our Daughter, Shauna, and her husband, Wes, were expecting their first child. Since Shauna was soon to leave Oregon to live in Texas, the news was definitely perfectly timed.

While we were having to accept the fact that our daughter would be living many miles away--we were also eagerly looking forward to the birth of our newest grandchild.

On October 2, 2003, that joy turned to unimaginable despair and sorrow with one phone call and the words...trisomy 18/Edward's Syndrome.

After two suspicious sonograms, Shauna was referred to a perinatologist for a level II sonogram and subsequent amnio. The world, as we knew it, stopped at the results. None of us had ever heard of trisomy 18.

We couldn't accept the doctors' prognosis---not compatible with life. We read, we hoped, we prayed...trying to find some glimmer of hope---something to prove the doctors' diagnosis wrong..but to no avail.

On November 10, 2003, Shauna was told that Jackson's little heart had stopped. He had died inutero at 34 weeks. Shauna was induced that evening. Jackson was born and left on angel wings on November 12, 2003. He weighed just 2 lbs. 11.9oz. and was 15 inches long.

Our lives will never be the same again. All our plans, hopes and dreams for this beautiful child left with him.

In my heart is a special place just for the gift that was Jackson. There he will remain forever loved and never forgotten. Your grammy loves you so much little prince. Sleep safely with the angels~~

For Jackson

I wasn't prepared to say good-bye before I said hello~
I couldn't accept not holding you before you had to go~
I wanted to cuddle and stroke your cheek and watch you while at play~
I never could have imagined
That you would not get to stay~

So remember grandma loves you
and that's a special love~
Holding you close beside me
Feeling your sweetness from above~

I Love You, Jackson....
